Assessments

Children Crafting Together

You may be wondering whether ADHD could help explain your child’s difficulties with attention, organisation, learning, emotional regulation or relationships.

At WellTree Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for children (aged 5 to 11 years old) and adolescents (from 12 to 17 years old), helping families gain greater clarity and, where appropriate, a formal diagnosis.

Before the Appointment

​

  • Complete online questionnaires about your child's symptoms and background information. 

  • Where possible, please also provide relevant information from their school, such as teacher feedback, reports or learning support documents. A questionnaire may also be sent to your child’s teacher. Children aged 11 years and over may also be asked to complete a questionnaire about their own experiences.

Appointment

​

  • Attend a ~2 hrs online assessment, with breaks as needed.

  • The assessment usually includes time speaking with both your child and their parent or caregiver. The length and structure of each part may vary depending on your child’s age, developmental level, communication style and individual needs.

  • The assessment can be adapted to your and your child's communication, sensory and processing preferences. Interpreter available if needed.

After the Appointment

​

  • You will received a report developed by a Clinical Psychologist within approximately 3 weeks.

  • Where appropriate a referral letter for GP/Paediatrician.

  • Where appropriate a letter of support for your child's school.

  • Where required, a speech pathologist can review and co-sign the report and provide a supporting letter for a small extra fee.

  • A 30-minute feedback session is included to review the findings and answer questions.

Counseling Session

Assessment Consultation

An assessment consultation is a 30-minute appointment to discuss your concerns about your child, their developmental and educational history, and your goals for the assessment.

​

Your psychologist will help determine which assessment may be most appropriate, explain the process and answer any questions before you decide how to proceed.

The Appointment:

​

  • 30 minutes online consultation

  • Collaborative conversation based  on you and your child's communication preferences (e.g. your camera can be off, no eye contact is expected, you can communicate by typed or spoken communication). Interpreter available if needed.

  • Discussion of next steps and potential pathways

Therapy Session Discussion

Specialised Autism and/or ADHD
Therapy

You may be wondering how best to support your child following an ADHD and/or Autism diagnosis and help them manage its impact on everyday life.

​

At WellTree Psychology, we provide tailored post-assessment therapy focused on self-understanding, emotional regulation, confidence, relationships, school participation and daily functioning.

The Appointment:

​​

  • 50 minutes online consultation

  • Collaborative conversation based  on your and your child's communication preferences (e.g. your camera can be off, no eye contact is expected, you can communicate by typed or spoken communication). Interpreter available if needed

  • Example of topics of discussion:

    • Managing overwhelm, emotional regulation and sensory needs

    • Developing practical strategies for organisation, routines and school participation

    • Navigating friendships, family relationships and communication

    • Building confidence, self-understanding and a positive sense of identity

    • Developing self-advocacy skills and requesting appropriate adjustments

    • Supporting wellbeing, independence and everyday functioning

Eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Care Plan may receive a Medicare rebate of $101.55, leaving an out-of-pocket cost of $128.45.

Our fee remains below the APS and AAPi recommended rates. Concession fees may be available depending on individual circumstances.

Functional Capacity Assessment

A Functional Capacity Assessment evaluates how your child’s disability, developmental condition or health needs affect their everyday functioning at home, at school and in the community.

At WellTree Psychology, we provide comprehensive online assessments and reports outlining your child’s functional strengths, support needs and practical recommendations for treatment planning, NDIS applications or reviews, school supports and other disability-related purposes.

Before the Appointment

​

  • Complete online questionnaires about your child’s development, health, daily functioning and support needs.

  • Where available, please provide relevant school reports, previous assessments, treatment reports and documentation of any existing diagnoses.

Appointment

​

  • Attend a ~2 hrs online assessment, with breaks as needed.

  • The assessment can be adapted to you and your child's communication, sensory and processing preferences. Interpreter available if needed. 

  • The assessment usually includes time with both your child and their parent or caregiver. The structure can be adapted to your child’s age, developmental level, communication style, sensory needs and attention. Interpreter support is available if required.

Legal Consultation Meeting


Support Therapy for Caregivers

Parent support therapy provides a space to better understand your autistic child’s needs while addressing the emotional and practical demands of parenting.

​

At WellTree Psychology, sessions focus on communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, behaviour, family relationships, advocacy and practical strategies for home and school.

The Appointment:

​​

  • 50 minutes online consultation

  • Collaborative conversation based  on you communication preferences (e.g. your camera can be off, no eye contact is expected, you can communicate by typed or spoken communication). Interpreter available if needed

  • Example of topics of discussion:

    • Understanding your child’s autistic needs, strengths and communication style

    • Supporting emotional regulation, sensory needs and periods of overwhelm

    • Developing practical strategies for routines, transitions and everyday challenges

    • Responding to behaviour with greater understanding and confidence

    • Supporting friendships, school participation and family relationships

    • Managing parental stress, uncertainty and burnout

We provide comprehensive assessments to better understand your child’s cognitive abilities, learning needs, emotional functioning and behavioural patterns.

These assessments can help identify strengths and areas of difficulty, clarify possible learning disorders or developmental concerns, and guide recommendations for school, therapy and everyday support.

Before the Appointment

  • Complete online questionnaires about your child’s development, learning, emotional wellbeing and background.

  • Where available, please provide relevant school reports, previous assessments and documentation of any existing diagnoses.

​

  • Attend an approximately two-hour online assessment, with breaks as needed.

  • The structure will depend on the type of assessment and may include time with your child and their parent or caregiver.

  • The appointment can be adapted to your child’s age, communication style, sensory needs and processing preferences. Interpreter support is available if required.

After the Appointment

​

  • You will received a report developed by a Clinical Psychologist within approximately 3 weeks.

  • Where appropriate a brief summary letter for relevant professionals.

  • A 30-minute feedback session is included to review the findings and answer questions.
